Release videos

Publish a release and its notes become a video attached to it. Headings become title cards, lists become bullet lists, and text that does not fit is split across cards instead of cut.

Release notes as a video. The code of this video

How it is built

  • The release-video Action reads the notes, writes the scenes and renders them on a plain runner; no model call.
  • oxframe check runs first: a card that cannot fit its text is split in two and checked again.
  • Your own scenes use the same components: TitleCard, BulletList, EndCard.
  • A [theme] table in the repository’s oxframe.toml gives the video your colors.

The workflow

Add this to .github/workflows/release-video.yml:

on:
  release:
    types: [published]
jobs:
  video:
    runs-on: ubuntu-latest
    permissions:
      contents: write
    steps:
      - uses: oxygenframe/release-video-action@v1
        with:
          portrait: false

A release made by a workflow with GITHUB_TOKEN does not start on: release; pass tag: ${{ github.ref_name }} in the job that creates it instead. Every oxframe release gets its video this way: see the changelog.

With an agent

Install the skills, then give your agent a first prompt. The release-to-video skill tells it how videos of this kind are made, and oxframe check shows it what is wrong before anything is rendered.

Make a 20-second video of the latest release in CHANGELOG.md: a title with the version, the changes as a list, an end card. Run oxframe check until it passes.
